I Wasn't Prepared For The Smell
Although, in hind sight it makes perfect sense. So, I went for my first laser hair removal treatment today. They had me put on numbing cream about 20 minutes ahead of time, but it still hurt. It was tolerable, kind of like someone snapping a rubber band against my skin (really hard in some places). But I wasn't prepared for the fact that it would smell like burnt hair-- if only because they have you shave the area in advance, so how much could be left to burn? And, a question of etiquette, are you supposed to tip the person who performs the treatment?
Saw the dentist yesterday, and now I get to see her next Tuesday and the Tuesday after that. Next Tuesday she has to do work on the tooth next to the one we couldn't get numb last time. I might make DP come and hold my hand.

If it were me, I would see a different dentist. I used to be a dental assistant (spit sucker/tool hander) and it's not good if the doctor can't get the right nerve. Really. I wouldn't tip the hair removal person...it's not a salon service.
Well I would, except in hindsight, I had another dentist have trouble hitting the nerve in the same area of my mouth, I think the nerve just runs not in the usual place for that section of my lower jaw. Anyway, she gets one more chance because I like her and am pleased overall with the work she has done-- plus she and I have a deal, no opening the tooth until we are VERY sure that the area is numb, which, at this point, would be the deal with any dentist. You see the last time it happened (2002?),I thought it was a fluke, or the dentist, now I think it's the nerve. (But feel free to correct me, Lynn.)
Bravo on taking a step you have been wanting to take! I am impressed. How do you feel, aesthetically? Or is it too soon...
