  • The Rhythm Is Going To Get Me

DP and I went and saw Pan's Labyrinth last night, a terrifically imaginative fairy tale and horribly violent drama all in one. Definitely NOT for kids, but a visually stunning and compelling story, nonetheless.

Today we went and ordered the wedding invitations, so I guess I really have to marry him now :o ) . Then we went and got the car washed and went to the gym. After years of being "afraid" of the elliptical (as in afraid to even try it), I've actually come to prefer it to the treadmill. First, it's easier on the joints, and second, you can set your own pace with how fast you are moving your feet-- i.e.: if you want to go faster, you just go faster, and if you need to slow down, you just slow down, as opposed the the treadmill where you have to dial up and down the speeds and wait for the machine to go faster or slower. In my case, I think I am actually able to get a better work out and an higher average speed because I am able to adjust my rate so quickly. Also, I've discovered that I get a better work out listening to music than watching the TV. Initially, I thought the TV would serve as a more powerful distraction, and therefore make the working out more bearable, but due to all the commercials, it's actually not that distracting and I go faster listening to music because I tend to fall in rhythm with the beat. I might even pluck up the courage to use the free consult with a personal trainer to ask about exercises to strengthen my abdominal muscles, as I am beginning to think that will be key to relieving my lower back pain issues.

    Sleepy time. Goodnight.

  • Music gets me moving, too.  Invitations, wow!

  • I prefer the Elipitical to the other machines. Too bad I can't find the headphones for my <gulp> walkman.  No computer=no music to download to the iPOD.  Good luck with your wedding prep. When is the big date?

  • Plus it's almost like dancing sometimes on the elliptical, too, no?  I love the elliptical and did a lot of my miles on it last year. It prevented a lot of injury, I think, because it is lower impact and helped my muscles stretch a little more (especially the calves).

I also think that the elliptical does wonders for the butt area.
